    NYC's The Benjamin Completes $10 Million Renovation, Unveils Redesigned Guest Rooms

    New York City's The Benjamin just this month completed the full redesign of its 209 guest rooms and suites, marking the completion of a full-scale, multi-phase $10 Million renovation. This week we went to see for ourselves exactly what's in store for travelers at the revamped property.

    This luxury boutique hotel, operated by Denihan Hospitality Group, is located at 50th and Lexington in the heart of Midtown Manhattan and is a member of our UltraPreferred Collection.     The full renovation, which has taken place over 3 years, has included a redesign of the property's lobby, renovation of the second floor meeting space and Guest Lounge, the opening of Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian's The National restaurant, and now the unveiling of the newly revamped guest rooms.

    The redesign was spearheaded by Rottet Studio's Lauren Rottet (who has previously worked on a number of other Denihan properties including The Surrey and The James) and included a full soft goods renovation and restyling of each of the property's guest rooms and suites.

    The new design accentuates the spaciousness of the rooms and ultimately results in a more updated, modern look. Note the replacement of the property's rather large old wooden desks with a more streamlined piece, and the addition of mirrored coffee tables and subtle pops of color.



    However, The Benjamin maintains its classic level of comfort and sophistication, highlighted by its famous and extensive Sleep Program. A complimentary consult with the property's Sleep Concierge (yes, that job exists) and the option of selecting one of 12 available specially designed pillows from the Pillow Menu (this also exists) are available to each guest.

    Each of The Benjamin's rooms also features a fully-equipped galley kitchen complete with refrigerator, microwave and mini bar, a great asset for an extended stay or just the traveler who likes to be able to prepare their own quick meals or snacks.

    Speaking of food, The Benjamin's in-house restaurant by world-renowned chef Geoffrey Zakarian is really something special. The National was opened as part of the first phase of the hotel's renovations and serves an absolutely delicious (without being stuffy) breakfast, lunch and dinner available at the restaurant or as 24/7 room service for guests. The space features a bar and dining rooms (private dining area is also available for groups) and offers the perfect atmosphere for a business meeting in Midtown Manhattan. (Insider tip: do not leave without trying the Brussels sprouts!)

    The Benjamin's recently renovated 2nd floor business facilities are also great. The meeting rooms feature large wraparound windows offering lots of light and nice views of the bustling streets of Midtown, while the Guest Lounge is open 24/7 for guests to utilize for small business meetings or just some quiet working time outside of their rooms. Work desks with all the business center amenities one could need are available.

    I also personally love the addition of Federico Hair & Spa, offering 24/7 access to blowouts, color, cuts, manicures and massages in-salon or in-room. They've even got men's and women's locker rooms complete with steam rooms right down the hall from the fitness center (also open 24/7). For the busy traveler trying to balance work and life, these are great options to have on property.

    All in all, the full scope of the changes at The Benjamin are pretty impressive. Travelers are certainly in for an upgrade at this Midtown Manhattan hotel.
